Questions, answered plainly
Know what you're buying.
Vehicle-history data is useful, but it is not magic. Coverage depends on what was reported.
What is free, and what costs $0.99?
Entering a VIN and previewing the vehicle is free. After reviewing the preview, continue to checkout to see the available access terms.
What can appear in a report?
Depending on available records, a report can include title brands, reported damage, odometer readings, auction history and photos, ownership history, theft records, recalls and vehicle specifications.
Will every incident appear?
No database contains every event. Reports only reflect information supplied to the underlying data sources. Use the report alongside an independent inspection and the vehicle’s service records.
Which vehicles can I look up?
The lookup supports standard 17-character VINs used on vehicles manufactured from 1981 onward. Coverage varies by vehicle, record source and jurisdiction.
Can I download the report?
Yes. Completed reports can be viewed online and downloaded as a PDF for your records.
Where can I find the VIN?
Look through the windshield at the driver-side dashboard, inside the driver-side door jamb, or on the title, registration and insurance documents.
Before you make the offer
Run the VIN. Read the history. Then decide.
